Transforming a Manila Shopping Mall with Hyperbolic Chameleon PVDF Aluminum Cladding

Unlike standard flat panels, the double-curved (hyperbolic) aluminum panels required for this project demand an extraordinary level of precision in both fabrication and finishing.

This project was a true test of our technical depth. Our client approached us with a BIM 3D vision but without a finalized structural framework.

Leveraging our two decades of engineering experience, M-City’s technical team performed a secondary design deepening based on the client’s 3D models. We calculated the precise curvature of every individual panel to ensure seamless alignment during installation, even before the physical sub-frames were fully in place.

The "Chameleon" PVDF coating—which shifts from elegant white to radiant gold under the Philippine sun—is notoriously unforgiving. With a coating thickness of only 35μm, any micro-scratch or polishing mark on the raw aluminum would be magnified under the high-gloss finish.
